Bubble wrap rolls provide flexible cushioning for fragile, sensitive and finished products during packing, storage and transportation. The air-filled bubbles help absorb ordinary impact, separate products and reduce direct contact between merchandise and the walls of a shipping box.
Gpack Supplies offers retail-size bubble rolls in three bubble profiles: small 3/16 inch, medium 5/16 inch and large 1/2 inch. Each bubble size provides a different balance of flexibility, surface protection, cushioning depth and void-fill capacity.
Available roll widths include 12, 24 and 48 inches. Narrow rolls are convenient for compact products and small packing stations, while wider rolls provide more coverage for furniture components, framed products, electronics, glassware and larger commercial merchandise.
Bubble wrap is normally used as part of a complete packaging system. Fragile products should be placed inside a properly sized corrugated box with enough cushioning to control movement during handling and transportation.
All roll dimensions are listed as width x length. Bubble size refers to the approximate height or profile of each air-filled bubble.

Small bubble wrap is flexible and conforms closely around compact or irregular products. It is useful for protecting surfaces and separating individual items.

For most ordinary packaging applications, the bubble side is placed toward the product so the air-filled cells cushion the surface directly.
Products with highly sensitive, polished or easily marked surfaces may first require tissue, foam or another smooth protective layer. Bubble impressions can sometimes appear on delicate finishes during prolonged pressure.
The flat side normally remains outside, creating a smoother surface for tape and handling.
There is no universal number of layers for every product. The correct amount depends on product weight, fragility, shape, carton size and expected handling.
Small durable products may need one or two layers, while glass, ceramics, electronics and valuable merchandise may require several layers plus additional cushioning inside the box.
After packing, gently move the carton. The product should not shift freely inside the box.
Bubble wrap can fill empty spaces between the wrapped product and the carton walls. Large 1/2-inch bubble generally fills open space more efficiently than small bubble.
Do not rely on a few loose pieces that can move away from the product. Fill spaces evenly so the item remains centered and separated from the box walls.
Air pillows, kraft paper and foam can also be used depending on the product weight and packaging requirements.
Wrap dishes, glassware, electronics, mirrors, picture frames and decorative items individually. Place heavier products at the bottom of moving boxes and lighter items above them.
Use packing paper or corrugated dividers between fragile pieces. Empty spaces should be filled so the contents do not move during transportation.

Bubble wrap can protect completed electronics from scratches and impact, but ordinary clear bubble wrap should not automatically be considered anti-static.
